BCA Industrial Group (IG) Autumn meeting 4 Nov 1999 - A workshop on Crystallography,the internet & spreadsheets.   A useful link to come out of the meeting was the CCP14 website.
2000
British Crystallographic Association (BCA) Spring meeting 3-5 April 2000, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.   I won Ist Prize in the Physical Crystallography Group (PCG) poster competition with a poster entitled "Polytypism & one-dimensional disorder in silicon carbide" & I wrote an Industrial Group meeting report published in the June 2002 issue of Crystallography News (no. 73, p45-46) on Controlled environment X-Ray Diffraction.

Condensed Matter & Materials Physics Conference 2000  CMMP 2000, 18-21 December 2000, Bristol University. I presented a poster entitled "Cathodoluminescence from polytype layers in silicon carbide" at this meeting. A bursary to attend this event was awarded by the PCG of the BCA, details here

BCA Spring Meeting 7-10 April 2001, Reading University.   I presented a poster PP1 on "Long period polytype sandwich models in silicon carbide"   the abstract can be viewed here.   An advert for the oral presentation of PP1 is available here.

Bernal Lecture   "JD Bernal: his legacy to science & society"   by Prof. Alan Mackay FRS, 10 May 2001, Royal Society, London.

Silicon Carbide Research Programme visit SiCEP , 31 May - 10 June 2001, Linkoping University, Stockholm University & KTH Sweden. I gave an invited seminar on "Long period polytype sandwich models in silicon carbide" and visited the research laboratory facilities & clean rooms of the Silicon Carbide research project. SiC   Research includes Prof. Leif Johansson's Group in the division of Materials Science   Linkoping University, Sweden. Professor Rolf Norrestam's Structural Chemistry division in the Arrhenius Laboratory of Stockholm University conducts diffraction studies under high pressure. The Department of Microelectronics & Information Technology KTH, Kista IT Science Park Stockholm, Sweden undertake research on silicon carbide devices.

Electronics for Extreme Environments E3NET Inaugural meeting 26 June 2001, IEE Austin Court, Birmingham.

The SCEPTRE programme is an EPSRC funded consortium to develop silicon carbide electronics for high power & temperature applications.
